Alfred "Bobby" Mershon

Mr. Alfred Robert “Bobby” Mershon, age 83, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 5, in the Parklands Rehab & Nursing Center, Gainesville, Florida following a long illness. Mr. Mershon resided in Lake City, Florida all  of his life. He worked for the Florida Department of Transportation, then he retired and went to work for CARC Lake City for over 15 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church and was a total outdoorsman that enjoyed fishing,  hunting and camping with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry D. and Elizabeth Thomas Mershon, sister, Voncile Pearce and his brother, Jimmy Ray Mershon. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Jean Mershon of Lake City, Florida; his daughter, Ruby Lee (Donny) Waldron of Lake City, Florida; three sisters, Erma Lee Burham and Linda Kay Thomas both of Lake City, Florida and Melissa Mershon; five grandchildren, Sophia (Steven) Siver, Jordana Smith, Frank Waldron, Robert Waldron and Shawn (Emilie) Brandon; 12 great-grandchildren,  one great-granddaughter; and a niece, Ruby (Randy) Pippins of Lake City, Florida. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Mershon will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, Jan. 12, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. James Roberts officiating. Interment will be Corinth Cemetery, Columbia County, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from1 to 2 P.M. (One hour before services) at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W. Main Blvd., Lake City, Florida
