Arby Claxton Foster

Arby Claxton Foster, 87, of Lake City, passed away peacefully Friday evening, December 23, 2016 at his residence with his family by his side after an extended illness. He was born in Wilkes County, North Carolina on June 11, 1929 to the late Albert Kelsie Foster and Vivian Mae Watson Foster. He has lived in the Lake City area the last 13 years, having moved here from Brevard County. He was a veteran of the United States Army and worked for many years with the Kimberly Clark Corporation. In his spare time, he and his wife loved to travel, both in the continental United States and Internationally. He loved to wood work and go fishing. He was also a barber. He also enjoyed attending gospel concerts with his wife. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Southside Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his brothers: Garvin Foster, Rex Foster, Morrison Foster, Waldon Foster and Colon Foster; and one sister: Coila McNeil.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years: Violet Church Foster of Lake City; sons: Jeffery (Gloria) Foster of Las Vegas, NV and Timothy Foster of Sheridan, Wyoming; step-daughters: Angela (Jon) Hiner of Lake City and Pamela (Tim) Cook of Boone, North Carolina; brothers: Curtis (Dot) Foster and A.K. (Arlene) Foster of North Carolina; sister: Ethelene (Max) Eller of North Carolina. Three step-grandchildren: Justin (Julie) Haynes; Alyssa Bolter; Jessica Hiner and one step-great-grandchild: Justus Haynes also survives.

Funeral services for Mr. Foster will be conducted on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 3 P.M. in the chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Hugh Sherrill officiating. Interment will follow on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 1:30 P.M. in the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Titusville, FL. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 2:00-3:00 P.M. (one hour prior to the services) at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations please be made to the Suwannee Valley Haven Hospice, 6037 W US Highway 90, Lake City, FL 32055.
