Arthur H. "Artie" Simmons

Mr. Arthur H. “Artie” Simmons, 57 of Glen St. Mary, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at his home. Mr. Simmons was born and raised in Hudson, New York and has lived in Glen St. Mary for 30 plus years. He had worked previously with Northeast Florida State Hospital and was a Carpenter by trade. Mr. Simmons also was a volunteer fireman with “Station 70” in Sanderson and with the “Washington Hose” when he was living in Hudson, New York. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching his “Dallas Cowboys” and spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his father, Raymond I. Simmons, Sr.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Yvonne Simmons, Glen St. Mary; his mother, Goldie Simmons, Hudson, NY; two daughters, Sonya (Lee) Hauge and Tami (Adam Waldrop) Simmons all of Macclenny; two brothers, Raymond (Jean) Simmons and William Simmons all of Hudson, NY; two sisters, Carol Deangelo and Michiko (Jorge) Bu all of Hudson, NY; five grandchildren, Newdearia Hauge, Christina Hauge, Lee Hauge, Jr., Amanda Nichols and Adam Waldrop, Jr. all of Macclenny; and one great grandson, Brody Fogarty, Macclenny.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Combs officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 5-6:00 PM, one hour prior to the service, on Thursday.
