Augusto Salas "Gus" Terlaje, Jr.

Mr. Augusto “Gus” Salas Terlaje, Jr., 69 of Lake City, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Lake City Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and had lived in Lake City for the past eight years. Mr. Terlaje was a veteran of the United States Army and retired with 31 years Civil Service for the Department of the Navy serving the Navy families. During his Civil Service career, Mr. Terlaje lived all over the world with his family, most recently Rota, Spain before moving to Lake City. He enjoyed bird watching, cooking and was a volunteer at the Lake City Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center. Mr. Terlaje was preceded in death by his father, Augusto Salas Terlaje, Sr. and one sister, Carmen Fowler.
Survivors include his wife, Natalie N. Terlaje, Lake City; his mother, Petra Buendia Terlaje; two sons, Augusto Terlaje III and Timothy Terlaje both of Baltimore, MD; and two sisters, Barbara Jean Terlaje and Cynthia Tucker also survive.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Navy Relief Fund or the Hospice Unit at the Lake City Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center.
