Barbara Catherine Allinder (née Guerry), 75, passed away peacefully at her home after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, Nov. 15. Born and raised in Lake City, Fla., Barbara was the daughter of the late Theo Lee Guerry and Eloise Ruth Fralick. She was a graduate of Columbia High School, class of 1967. Barbara was a devoted wife to Joseph Enoch Allinder for 55 wonderful years. Together, they built a loving family that includes their four daughters, Cheryl Collins, Deborah Laliberte (Gerald), Freda Keen (Scooter) and Jessica Owens. She was a proud grandmother to Joseph Erickson, Randal Khune, Brandon Howey and Cerese Laliberte; and a cherished great-grandmother to Benjamin, Lorali, Aurora, Logan, Branson, Henry, Colton, and the anticipated arrival of Elliot. Barbara was preceded in death by her sister, Nina Ann Espenship; and her two brothers, Theodore Legrand Guerry and James Harrison Guerry. She is survived by her sister, Lora E. Smith; her brothers, William L. Guerry (Diane) and David F. Guerry.Barbara was a remarkable woman whose compassion knew no bounds. She dedicated her life to caring for others as a nurse and spent her early years as a candy striper. As a pastor’s wife, she was deeply involved in her church community, singing in the choir, leading children’s sermons and contributing to Vacation Bible School. Her kindness extended beyond her family; she fostered children, providing a safe haven for those in need. An avid traveler, Barbara explored many places but always held her family closest to her heart. Her strength and warmth left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. She was tough yet kind, embodying the qualities of an amazing human being who will be deeply missed.A celebration of Barbara’s life will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at Double Springs United Methodist Church in Mountain Rest, South Carolina.  In lieu of flowers,donations may be made to Oconee County Habitat for Humanity.Barbara’s legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
