Betty Jean Mcgarrity Bitner

Mrs. Betty Jean McGarrity Bitner, 91 of Lake City passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City.  Mrs. Bitner was born in Swissvale, Pennsylvania to the late Clement C. and Vivian Grace McGarrity.  She moved to Lake City with her late husband, Glenn E. Bitner in 1964 from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Mrs. Bitner was of the Lutheran faith.  She was also preceded in death by four brothers, John, Dick, Bob and Tommy McGarrity and one daughter in law, Bernice Bitner.

Survivors include two sons, Glenn T. Bitner and wife Wendy, Lake City and John A. Bitner, Blair, Oklahoma; two sisters, Pat Granny and Joan Taylor both of Pittsburgh, PA; four grandchildren, Marc, Marlys, Chris and Pam Bitner, five great grandchildren, Blake, Brayden, Beau, Brittany and Dayton Bitner and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 9:00 AM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Alkire, pastor of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church officiating.  Interment will follow.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center at 6037 West US Hwy 90, Lake City, FL 32055.
