Mrs. Betty Jean Townsend, 75 of Lake City, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. She was born in Jena, Florida to the late Ivey Thomas and Ethel Barrs Fielding. Mrs. Townsend had recently moved to Lake City from Jacksonville and had previously lived in Day, Florida. She was a member of Brewer Lake Baptist Church in Day, Florida and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Paul D. Townsend; two daughters, Paulette Townsend and Betty “Sue” Thomas; one son, Daniel Townsend and his wife Beth; two sisters, Jo Marion Humphries and Shirley Townsend; and five grandchildren, Amanda Wiley, Jonathan Buchanan, LaQuae Townsend, JonPaul Townsend and Sarah Townsend also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Townsend will be conducted on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at 2;00 PM at the Brewer Lake Baptist Church in Day, Florida with Pastor T.J. Santerfeit, pastor of Beulah Baptist Church in Lee, Florida officiating. Interment will follow at Day Cemetery in Day, Florida. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8:00 PM Saturday evening at Guerry Funeral Home, Lake City, Florida. Arrangements are under the direction of GUERRY Funeral Home, Lake City.
