Mrs. Carol Jean Finley, age 68, of Macclenny, Florida passed away on Monday, Feb. 7, in the St. Vincent’s Riverside Community Hospice, Jacksonville, Florida following an extended illness. Mrs. Finley was born in Jacksonville, Florida and attended Baker County schools. She moved away from Macclenny, Florida for many years but returned in 1990. She was employed as a school teacher with the Baker County School System for many years. She was a graduate of the University of Alabama with a Master’s degree in education and was member of the St. Peter’s in the Glen Anglican Church of Glen St. Mary, Florida. She enjoyed knitting, was an avid reader and enjoyed dancing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolphus “Doc” L. and Ruth Rowe Finley. She is survived by her husband, Forrest A. Wheeler, Jr. of Macclenny, Florida; four children, Lynne Breitinger of Macclenny, Florida, Dan (Kristel) Wheeler of Phoenix, Arizona, Miki Wheeler of Grand Junction, Colorado and Matt (Gloria) Finley of Glen St. Mary, Florida; one sister, Sharon Finley of Winder, Georgia; one brother, Larry Finley of St. George, Georgia; seven grandchildren also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Finley will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, Feb. 12, in the St. Peter’s in the Glen Anglican Church, 8648 South C.R. 125, Glen St. Mary, Fla. with Father Craig Brown officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Macclenny, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 6 to 8 P.M.
