Charles Alvin Watson, Sr.

Mr. Charles Alvin Watson, Sr., age 80 of Glen St. Mary, FL passed away Thursday, December 1st, 2022, following an extended illness. Mr. Watson was born in Foley, Florida and graduated from Englewood High School, Jacksonville, FL, Class of 1960. After graduation, he served in the United States Air Force before relocating to Baker County in 1969.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Macclenny where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Watson has worked as a mechanic, a carpenter, an air conditioner technician and finally as a millwright for the Local Union 2411 for over 40 years until his retirement. He loved his family and thoroughly enjoyed supporting his children in all of their interests. He also loved music and playing the piano. Mr. Watson is preceded in death by his parents, William Lawton and Evelyn Creel Watson and one son, Charles A. Watson, Jr. “Chip” and brother, Larry W. Watson. He is survived by his loving wife, Penny Watson: son, John Watson of Glen St. Mary, FL: daughters, Juanita Watson of Lyons, GA, Chris Lauramore (Roy) of Blackshear, GA and Nancy Morris (Art) of Smyrna, TN: 9 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.  A private burial will be held at Manntown Cemetery. Guerry Funeral Home, US 90 E., Macclenny, FL has been entrusted with the service arrangements.
