Mr. Charles Oran Yost, age 81, of Jacksonville died Monday, January 17 in the St. Vincents Medical Center in Jacksonville following a brief illness. He was a native of Fallsmills, Virginia and had resided in Jacksonville for 57 years. He owned and operated Yost Welding and Maintenence Service for many years and was named in 1974 the Southeastern U.S. Engineer of the year. He was of the Methodist faith, a member of the American Legion, a combat veteran of the Korean Conflict, a life time member of the N.R.A. and a former Florida Civil Defense worker. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Mildred B. Yost, two sons, John and Michael Yost, two brothers, Fred and Robert Yost.
He is survived by two sons, Rocky Yost and Oran K. Yost both of Jacksonville, two sisters; Marie Baughter, Jacksonville and Wanda Lee Lail; Lawndale, NC, one brother; Thomas E. Yost, Bluefield, VA; nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Mallard officiating. Interment will follow at Manntown Cemetery, Glen St. Mary, Fl. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8 pm Friday evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Ronny Duggan, Jimmy Duggan, Gilberto Chamorro, Mike Matthews, Marquel Sapp and Sport Stevenson.
