Christie A Mims

d. Jun 28, 2026

Christie Mims, 60, of Lake City, Florida, gained her wings on June 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on March 24, 1966, in Bartow, Florida, to Emmett Randall Mims and Josette Tamara Shoop. Christie made Lake City her home and spent her life doing what came most naturally to her—loving people. She never met a stranger. Anyone fortunate enough to cross her path was welcomed like family, and she was always ready to offer a helping hand, a listening ear, or words of encouragement. Her heart was as big as her smile, and she had a remarkable gift for making people feel seen, heard, and loved.

She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Josette Tamara Shoop; her father, Emmett Randall Mims; and her brother, Randy Mims. She leaves behind her loving stepfather, Mike; her brothers, Emmett and Patrick; and her sisters, Jolene and Tamara. Christie was the proud and devoted mother of five children: Jonnelle, Sam, Kelvin, Tyler, and Zach. She also leaves behind her cherished daughter-in-law, Cecilia, whom she loved as her own. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she adored her ten grandchildren: Alexis, Devyn, Alayna, Kirsten, Hayden, Madison, McKenzie, Xander, Jordan, and Olivia. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Alivia, who brought immense happiness to her life.

Family was everything to Christie. She loved fiercely and unconditionally, always putting the people she cared about before herself. She spent countless hours making memories with her children, grandchildren, and loved ones, creating a legacy of love that will live on for generations. Christie had a passion for collecting reborn dolls and searching for vintage clothing and treasures for them. She loved each doll dearly and took great joy in caring for and displaying her collection. She also loved thrift store shopping and spending weekends yard sale hunting, always excited by the possibility of discovering a hidden treasure. Known for her hysterical sense of humor, Christie could light up any room. She loved playing pranks, making people laugh, and finding joy in life's simple moments. Her laughter was contagious, and her ability to bring smiles to others was one of her greatest gifts. To know Christie was to know kindness, compassion, and unconditional love. She brought comfort during difficult times, celebrated life's victories with those she loved, and made everyone around her feel important. Her presence was a blessing, and her absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in the countless memories she leaves behind—the laughter shared around the table, the stories told late into the night, the hugs freely given, and the love that never wavered. We are grateful for every moment, every lesson, and every memory she gifted us.

Christie will be deeply missed and forever loved. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family, her friends, and all those whose lives were touched by her extraordinary kindness and love.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in our hearts. Arrangements entrusted to Guerry Forbes Funeral Home of Lake City.
