Mr. David Edward Rogers, a twenty-five-year Lake City resident and formerly of St. Petersburg, passed away Friday, March 13, 2026, at the age of 93. Mr. Rogers was born in Providence, Rhode Island to the late William Loren and Margaret McFarland Rogers. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Rogers dedicated twenty-four years of his life to military service. He served honorably in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. During his distinguished career, he earned the Bronze Star and retired with the rank of Sergeant First Class. Upon his military retirement, he worked for many years as a security guard. In his free time, he enjoyed playing poker and listening to music. He is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years: Rosemary Rogers of Lake City; daughters: Jennifer Playfair of Gainesville, Christian Rogers of Columbus, GA, Pamela, Paula, and Pattie; grandchildren: Laura, Chasity, Andrew, Kaitlyn, Shane, Shelby, and Kaitlyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son: Damon Rogers, brothers: Steve, Joe, and Bill, and sisters: Marie and Gloria. Funeral services, with military honors, will be held 2:00pm, Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Spirit of Christ Lutheran Church, 145 SW Sweetbreeze Drive, Lake City, Florida with Pastor Joy Bolander officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Mr. Rogers will be laid to rest, privately, at Jacksonville National Cemetery, Jacksonville, Florida. The staff of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home of Lake City is honored to serve the Rogers family.
