Mr. Dewey Wayne Bridges, 69 of Macclenny, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 26, 2013. He was born in Shannon, Georgia to the late Paul Alfred and Birdie Mae Pierce Bridges. Mr. Bridges was a longtime resident of Baker County and member of the First Baptist Church of Maxville. He was a graduate of Baldwin High School class of 1963 and retired in 2005 as a Custodian with Baker County High School. Mr. Bridges enjoyed traveling with his wife Joyce and together they visited every state in the United States. He was preceded in death by one son, Donald Allen Bridges.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Bridges, Macclenny; one son, David Bridges (Kim), Valrico; one daughter, Connie Bridges, Jacksonville; two brothers, Clyde Bridges, Alabama and Frank Bridges (Diane), Raiford; one sister, Mildred Williamson, Baldwin; three step sons, Alvin Lambert (Lisa), Clermont, Bobby Lambert (Julie), Orlando and David Lambert (Tookie), Macclenny; two step daughters, Martha Jo Davis (Wes), Taylor and Brenda Daniels, Macclenny; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Griffis and Rev. David Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Brandy Branch Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service from 1-2:00 PM on Tuesday at the chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of GUERRY Funeral Home, Macclenny.
