Mrs. Dixie ”DicDic” Ferguson, age 92, of Lake City, Florida passed away peacefully early Monday morning June 3, 2024 at the Harper Lake Assisted Living Facility. She was born to the late Eula Mae Kynerd and Sam Hill Noland on October 8, 1931 in Aberdeen, MS. She moved to Lake City in her teens and met the love of her life William Joseph (Joe) Ferguson, Jr. They were married in 1949. Dixie was a homemaker. In high school she was a cheerleader, football queen and voted most popular girl. She was a member of the Junior Women’s Club. She was an active member at the First Baptist Church and enjoyed many years in WMU. Her greatest blessings in life was her family. She was an outstanding cook and enjoyed the simple things of life. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her great happiness. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe of 54 years, her brother James (Sylvia) Noland and brother Walter (Wanda) Noland. She is survived by her son Joe III (Shannon) of Sopchoppy, Fla., son Greg of Winter Garden, Fla. And daughter Elaine (Joey) Mikell of Lake Park, Ga. Also survived by five grandchildren, Shannon (Ebie) Walter of Tallahassee, Justin Ferguson of Branford, Chad (Kayla) Williams of Waco, Texas and Wes (Jessica) Williams of St. Augustine, Dwayne (Ashley) Gerrell; ten great-grandchildren, Olivia (Tyler) Lingo, Drew Walters, Ryan and Austin Ferguson, Lincoln and Dawson Williams, Ellie and Macie Williams, Whitley and Bodhi Gerrell; one great-great-grandchild, Hudson Lingo: Two sisters, Mary Sanders of MS and Betty Caldwell of IN, sister-in-law Joy Ferguson of Lake City, Fla. and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Ferguson will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, June 7, in the chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Bass, Pastor of Wellborn Baptist Church, officiating. There will be a private burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens following the funeral service. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 10 to 11 A.M. (one hour before services). In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations please be considered to First Baptist Church or to a charity of their choice.
