Mr. Donald Leo “Pete” Pearce, Sr., age 81, of Lake City, Florida died Saturday, Nov. 14, in the Suwannee Valley Care Center, Lake City, Florida following a brief illness. Mr. Pearce was born in Lulu, Florida and lived in Sanderson, Florida for many years before moving to St. Genevieve, Mo. and then to Lake City, Florida five years ago. He served for 22 years in the U.S. Marine Corp and then worked for over 20 years for the State of Missouri as a psychiatric aid until his retirement. He also was engaged in cattle farming. He was a Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Pearce and his parents, Mann and Carmel Cleo Griffis Pearce. He is survived by two sons, Donald Leo (Holly) Pearce, Jr. of LaSalle, Michigan and Jimmy Pearce of Iron Mountain, Missouri: Two brothers, Wayne (Lois) Pearce and Jack Pearce both of Sanderson, Florida: Two sisters, Dorothy Ann Dunn and Donna Lee Wheeler both of Sanderson, Florida; Daughter-in-law, Nancy Pearce of Frederick Town, Missouri: Seven grandchildren, Jason Michael Pearce, Diana Marie Parran, William Anthony Pearce, Molly and Leah Siedlecki, Joe and Daniel Kaiser: Three great-grandchildren also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Pearce will be held at 4 P.M. Friday, Nov. 20, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Albert Altman officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 2 to 4 P.M. Friday (2 hours before service time). Interment will be in South Prong Cemetery, Sanderson, Florida.
