Donald Gene Smith

Mr. Donald Gene Smith, age 64, of Macclenny, FL passed away Saturday, August 20 at his home. Mr. Smith was born in Jacksonville, FL and lived there until 1976 when he moved to Baker County, FL. Mr. Smith served in the United States Navy and retired from the Navy in 1975. He also retired from Sanderson Pipe as a fork lift operator after many years of employment. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, loved sailing and riding motorcycles. Mr. Smith loved his dog, Cocoa, and enjoyed fitness. He is preceded in death by his late wife, Joan Mobley Smith, and his parents, Launey Mae and Roy Franklin Smith. He is survived by two sons, Donald Ryan Smith (Brenda) and Ricky Smith, both of Macclenny, FL: three sisters, Patty Smith of Jacksonville, FL, Phyllis Tauro of Jacksonville, FL and Donna Doolittle of New Port Richey, FL.: one step-brother, Richard Johns of Missouri: two granddaughters, Savannah Lynn Parish and Carlie Joan Smith. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Smith will be held at 3 P.M., Thursday, August 25, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home, Macclenny, FL with Rev. Tim Thomas officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 2 to 3 P.M. (one hour before services). Interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery.
