Mrs. Doris Annamae Hightower, age 86, of Sarasota, Florida died Wednesday, Aug. 19, at her residence following a long illness. She was born in Perry, Florida and lived in Lake City, Tampa, Orlando and in 1967 moved to Sarasota, Fla. She was related to the pioneer families of Hodges and Witt in Columbia county. She worked with the Sarasoto County Clerk of Court for many years. She was a graduate of Columbia High School and was a 100% homemaker for her children, loved working in church and attending sports with her children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hiram R. and Florence Parker Hodges. She is survived by her daughter, Kelley Hightower of Sarasota, Fla.: Two sons, J. Matt Hightower and J. Mark Hightower both of Sarasota, Fla.: Three grandchildren, Jamie Prince, Alauna Carroll and Joe Passalacqua: Three great-grandchildren also survive. A remembrance service to honor the life of Mrs. Hightower will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, Aug. 24, in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Joy Bolander officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Columbia County, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 10 to 11 A.M. Monday (one hour before services) at the church.
