Doris L. Watson

Doris L. Watson, 96 of Lake City, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at Solaris Health and Rehabilitation Center. Doris was born in Waycross, Georgia on February 10, 1930, the daughter of Connie Wolfe Lee Hayes Vickers.

Doris would work for many years for General Electric as an inspector in the battery division. She resided in Jacksonville for several years before living in Columbia County for the last 60 years. Doris loved attending church at Christian Heritage Church of Lake City and was very involved in church activities there.

She was preceded in death by her mother; siblings, Carrol Lee, Curtis Lee, Jimmy Hayes, and Linda Hayes Inman; children, William Watson, Jr., Terry Watson, Toni Watson and Donna Woodworth; three grandchildren; and two husbands, William Marion Watson and Donald Charles Watson.

She is survived by her sons, Bob (Glenda) Watson and Ken (Brandy) Watson both of Lake City; grandchildren, Stephanie Watson, Lorraine Sargent, Melinda Jerome, Brian Watson, Jamie Peters, Will Watson, Renee Watson-Gutierrez, Robby Watson, Brooke Watson, Candice McCue Gross, Joanna King, Alan Watson, David Watson, Brian Woodworth, and Brent Woodworth; twenty eight great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; and a brother Alan Hayes of Waycross, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home of Lake City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
