Dorothy Gibbs

Mrs. Dorothy Gibbs, age 92, of Lake City, FL passed away Thursday, January 11th in the Suwannee Valley Care Center, Lake City, FL. Mrs. Gibbs was born in Lake City, FL to the late James and Edna Henley. She was a lifetime resident of Columbia County and worked as a purchasing clerk for the City of Lake City until her retirement in 1993. She was a member of the Parkview Baptist Church, enjoyed frying fish and spending time with her family. Mrs. Gibbs is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Poley Gibbs and 3 siblings. She is survived by her son, William Daniel “Danny” Witt, III (Barbara) of Lake City, FL: step son, Bo”Poley” (Cecilia) Gibbs lll of Middleburg, FL. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Gibbs will be held at 12 P.M., January 15th in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Zach Douglas officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 11 A.M to 12 P.M. (one hour prior to service). Interment will immediately follow the service in Memorial Cemetery, Lake City, FL.
