Mr. Douglas “ Junior” Raulerson, Jr., age 74, of Moniac, Georgia died Thursday, July 9, in the V.A. Medical Center, Lake City, Florida following an extended illness. He was born in the Georgia bend community of Moniac, Georgia and lived in Jacksonville, Florida for many years and moved back to Moniac, Ga. 45 years ago. He worked as a metal fabricator with Fabralloy, Inc. and S & H Machinery of Jacksonville, Florida for over 25 years until his retirement in 2003. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and enjoyed gardening, canning food, fishing and hunting. He was a member of the V.F.W. of Palatka, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Cleo Canaday Raulerson, Sr. and three siblings, Billy Taylor, Max Raulerson and Ella Higdon. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathleen Raulerson of Moniac, Georgia: Two daughters, Cevey (Rusty) Whiting of Jacksonville, Fla. and Kathleen Lanelle Canaday of Moniac, Georgia: Two sisters, Gail (Leonard) Davis of Macclenny, Florida and Maxine Burnsed of Baxter, Florida: Four grandchildren, Sierra (Tom) Nielsen, Crysta Hilton, Douglas “Bear” Canaday and Elainna Canaday: One great-granddaughter, Olivia Nielsen also survives. A remembrance service to honor the life of Mr. Raulerson will be held at 2 P.M. Monday, July 13, in the Moniac Baptist Church, Moniac, Georgia with Rev. James Croft officiating. Interment will be in Canaday Cemetery, Moniac, Ga. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 6 to 8 P.M.
