Rev. Doyle Lawton Williams, age 77, was born May 4, 1938 in Arcadia, Fl. and resided in Lake City, Fl. He passed away on Friday, Dec. 11, at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was preceded in death by his father, Barney Lloyd Williams and mother Wavie Etta (Lee) Williams, four brothers and one sister. Rev. Williams worked in many different jobs throughout his life: on the Arcadia golf course as a teenager, at Lewis' Shell Station for eleven years, seven of those after he became a Christian, for the Florida Highway Patrol for ten years as Communications Supervisor, and he pastored four different churches over a period of twenty-eight years. He has been a licensed minister in the Church of God since 1975, becoming an Ordained Bishop in July 2000. He served as Associate Pastor of Fort White Church of God for the past five years. Rev. Williams served in the Army National Guard of Florida and he loved to play golf, especially with some of the State Overseers. Someone once told him that he wasn't supposed to beat the overseer, and he replied, "Why not?". Rev. Williams was always happiest when serving others. His life was full of compassion for his family, his friends and those he served as pastor. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alice Faye Williams: Three children, daughter, Janet (Tim) Westberry, son, Phillip (Lisa) Williams, and daughter, Kimberly (Mike) Borzeka: Ten grandchildren, Heather (Josh) Brewer, Nikki Jackson, Courtney (Stephen) Arnold, Colby Higgins, Ethan Higgins, Tirey Williams, Jon-Michael Borzeka, Cristain Higgins, Avery Williams and Billy Higgins: Four great-great grandchildren, Kaia, JJ, Silas and Micah: One sister, Martha Faye Crouch, many nieces and nephews, relatives and numerous friends also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Rev. Williams will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday, Dec. 16, in the Lake City Church of God, with Bishop Phillip R. Williams officiating and assisted by Bishop Carroll Lee, Bishop Ralph Dillard, Administrative Bishop Keith Ivester, Bishop Fred McCray and Bishop Steve Thomas. Interment will be in Williams Cemetery, Lake City, Fl. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 6 to 8 P.M.Tuesday, Dec. 15 at Guerry Funeral Home, 2659 S.W. Main Blvd., Lake City, Fl.
