Mr. Earl Edward Brown, 85 of Lake City, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at his home. He was the youngest son to the late Thomas Mitchell Brown and Lallie Green Brown. Mr. Brown was a lifelong resident of Lake City and a member of the Salem Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. Brown was a farmer throughout his life. He previously worked for Guerdon Mobile Homes and the Columbia County School Board having retired as the Director of Maintenance. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth McGraw Brown: siblings, Claude Brown, Leroy Brown, Carl Brown, James Brown, Elmira Herndon and Evy Mae Brown; and step daughter, Patsy Crews.
Survivors include his daughters, Earlene Brown (Marshall McNeill), Jacksonville, Darlene Brown (Greg Intemann), Gainesville, step daughters Sandy Reed (Kevin), Lake City and Cheryl Wilkin, Lake City; step son, Robert Norris, Lake City; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, April 18, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Lake City with Elder Herman Griffin officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Salem Primitive Baptist Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7:00 PM, Thursday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salem Primitive Baptist Church at P.O. Box 92, Lake City, FL 32056-0092.
