Mr. Eddie B. "E.B." Canady, Jr., age 85, of Macclenny, Fla. died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012. He was a native of Jacksonville, Fla. and then retired to Macclenny, Fla. in 1997. He worked with the U.S. Post Office, served as a deputy sheriff under three different sheriff's of Duval county. He retired as a real estate investor and was owner of Ace-Dixie Amusement Company in Jacksonville, Fla. He was of the Baptist faith, a member of the Baker County Historical Society, a Navy Veteran of W.W. II and a life member of V.F.W. Post #1689, Jacksonville, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eddie B. and Lila Bennett Canady, Sr. and two sisters, Edith Maddox and Ethel Helsabeck. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alma Garrett Canady of Macclenny, Fla.: Two daughters, Elaine (Bill) Haines of McDonough, Ga. and Linda Canady of Jacksonville, Fla.: two step sons, Gerald Altman of Macclenny, Fla. and Marvin (Angela) Altman of Orange Park, Fla.:Niece, Shelia Cravey and two nephews, Richard Helasbeck and Ken Helasbeck: Four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, Jan. 21, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home, Macclenny, Fla. with a eulogy spoken by his close friends. Interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery, Baker County, Fla. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, Jan. 20, at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, Macclenny, Fla.
