Edith Lucille Johnson

Ms. Edith Lucille Johnson, 100, of Glen St. Mary, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, December 19, 2016 at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Mayo, Florida on August 27, 1916 to the late William Guy Starling and Toleathia Bates Starling. She has lived most of her life in the Lake City area, having lived in Glen St. Mary the past six years. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and was known as a very feisty lady. She was a past member of the Eastern Star. She is preceded in death by her husband: Joe G. Johnson; sons: Larry G. Johnson and Paul L. Wread; daughters: Barbara Jean Wread and Pauline Wread; five brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her daughter: Linda (Tom Adams) Collins of Glen St. Mary; brother: Manuel (Mary) Starling; ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, family members and friends also survive.

Graveside funeral services for Ms. Johnson will be conducted on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 11 A.M. in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Mary Starling officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 10-11 A.M. (one hour prior to the services) in the chapel of the funeral home.
