Ellen Louise Gay

Ellen Louise Gay, (Class of ’68 Queen) 75, daughter of the late Frank and Louise Gay was born on June 26, 1950. She attended the public schools of Columbia County and was a graduate of the University of West Florida. She taught school for 38 years in Hamilton County. She loved her students, and they loved her. She professed her faith at an early in Jesus Christ and joined Southside Baptist Church. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality she was loved by many. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She quietly departed this life Saturday, July 26, 2025, at HCA in Lake City, FL. She was preceded in death by her father Frank Gay, her mother Louise Gay and brother Warren Gay. Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her sisters, Jane Gay, Lake City, FL and  Joan Pope, Lake City, FL,  Her beloved nephew Shane and Katrin Pope, great nephews: Luke, Ryan, Jackson, and Greyson, and great niece, Olivia Pope, all of New Port Richey, Florida; and her Class of 1968 brothers and sisters whom she loved dearly as they did her. The family would like to thank HCA for their wonderful care, support and love shown to Ellen. Funeral services will be held at Southside Baptist Church, 388 SE Baya Ave., Lake City, FL on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11:00am with Pastors Richard Rodriguez and Roger Pursley officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30am, Saturday, August 2 for her classmates and 10am-11:00am for family and friends at the church. Interment will follow the serves at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery on 441 South. Lunch will be served at the church following interment and everyone is welcome. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Southside’s building fund, Operation Christmas Child or to a charity of your choice.
