Elsie Rhoden

Ms. Elsie Rhoden, age 93, of Jacksonville, FL passed away Sunday, January 14th in the Baptist Medical Center, Jacksonville, FL following an extended illness. Ms. Rhoden was born in Jacksonville, FL and was a lifelong resident of Duval County. She was a homemaker and spent her days taking care of her family. Ms. Elsie loved her children and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She attended Evangel Temple and Paxon Revival Center, Jacksonville,FL. Ms. Elsie is preceded in death by her parents, David and Jane Nichols Barber, her late husband, Floyd Rhoden, son, Charles Rhoden, daughter, Donna Stafford, grandson, Larry Rhoden, Jr. “Bubba” and granddaughter, Renae Mclaughin. She is survived by two sons, Jerry Carl Rhoden (Jill) of Baldwin, FL and Larry David Rhoden, Sr. (Polly) of Jacksonville,FL: two daughters, Beverly Shuman (Richard) of Jacksonville,FL and Jackie Green (Gary) of St. George, GA. Twenty-eight grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Ms. Rhoden will be held at 12 P.M., Thursday, January 18th in the Paxon Revival Center, Jacksonville, FL with Pastor Steve Dobbs officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 11 A.M. to 12 P.M. (one hour before services) at the church. Interment will follow the funeral services in Long Branch Cemetery.
