Mr. Everett Paul Crews, age 83, passed away on Sunday, January 7 after a brief illness. He was born on March 22, 1940 and lived most of his life in Lake City, Florida. As a young boy, he loved to hunt, swim and fish. He graduated from Columbia High School in 1958 and was a member of the FFA for four years. After high school, he graduated from the University of Florida School of Forestry. He retired from St. Regis Paper Company after 35 years and served in the Florida National Guard. He was a member of Hopeful Baptist Church and an Honorary member of Columbia County Resources. He enjoyed collecting arrowheads, antiques, refinishing furniture and playing cards. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially their Saturday morning breakfast together.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Clara Crews, his step-brother, Rudolph Pearce and step-sister, Charlotte Pearce Graham.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Linda Herndon Crews of Lake City, Florida: two children, John Paul (Rhonda) Crews and Paula (Robb) Burns both of Lake City, Florida: one brother Wayne (Louise) Crews of Lake City, Florida: four grandchildren John Crews, Tamber (Jared) Curlin, Heather (Trevor) Touchton all of Lake City, Florida and Hannah Burns of Gainesville, Florida: five great-grandchildren Brooklyn Crews, Masyn Crews, Kash Curlin, Rhett Touchton and Emberleigh Touchton: and a host of close family members that were dear to his heart also survive.
Funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Crews will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 11th at Hopeful Baptist Church in Lake City, Florida with Billy Young officiating. Internment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Columbia County, Florida. A time of visitation with family will be Wednesday, January 10th from 5 to 7 PM at Guerry Funeral Home.
