Mr. Franklin Wardell “Frank” O’Steen, age 81, of Fort White, Florida passed away on Thursday, Dec. 19, in the Suwannee Valley Care Center, Lake City, Florida. Mr. O’Steen was born in Branford, Florida and resided in Fort White, Florida most of his life. He worked as a maintenance superintendent with Occidental Chemical Company, White Springs, Florida for over 30 years and then retired in 1982. He then became involved with Reforestation Services which specialized in planting trees to improve the survival of bareroot long leaf pine seedlings. He was a wealth of knowledge, from mechanical processes and fabrication to natural remedies for healing. Franklin will be missed by all who knew him. He was a member of the Athens Baptist Church and a Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by parents, Bose A. and Ruby Walker O’Steen, two brothers, Jimmy and Gary O’Steen. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lottie Nell O’Steen of Fort White, Florida; three sons, Keith (Michelle) O’Steen of Tampa, Florida, Stacy O’Steen of Clewiston, Florida and Tommy (Laura) O’Steen of Greenville, Texas; two brothers, Glenn O’Steen and Colin O’Steen both of Lake City, Florida; one sister, Irma Jean of Providence, Florida; two grandchildren, Emery O’Steen and Ella O’Steen; a great friend, Darrell Gordon of Fort White, Florida. A memorial service to honor the life of Mr. O’Steen will be held at 12 P.M. Friday, Dec. 27, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home, Lake City, Florida. Visitation with the family will be from 11 to 12 P.M. Friday (One hour before services).
