Gamal “Jimmy” Rukab, 50, died peacefully at home after an extended illness Sunday, February 12, 2012 in Lake City, Florida.
He was born September 4, 1961 in Jacksonville, Fl. to the late Nasser Awad Rukab and Evelyn Shunnarah Rukab. He graduated from the Robert E. Lee High School Class of 1979, after school he worked in the management field. He met his soul mate for life at this time, Marrae Robarts. They married June 17, 1989. Jimmy was proud of his children and their accomplishments in life. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends: he loved eating, enjoyed basketball, football and his Tuesday night card games. His biggest joy was being “ Gee Gee” to all the children. He was christened in the catholic faith at a early age. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake City, Florida.
Left to cherish his loving memory is his wife: Marrae Robarts Rukab, Lake City, Fl. One daughter: Evelyn Martha Rukab, Lake City, Fl. One son: Nasser “Jimmy” Gamal Rukab, Lake City, Fl. a doting mother-in-law, Marthajean Robarts, Lake City, Fl. and the late George A.L. Robarts, Jr. One sister: Jeanine (Remon) Danforah, Birmingham, Al. Two Brothers: Ricky (Denise) Rukab, Jacksonville, Fl. and Junior (Lisa) Rukab, Orange Park, Fl. Brother-In-Law, George (Katrina) Robarts, Ft. White, Fl., Brother-In-Law: John (Cindy) Robarts, Spring Hill, TN, Sister-In-Law, Julianne (Edgar) Blalock, Lake City, Fl. Nine nephews seven nieces, one great nephew, and eight great nieces, and a host of loving uncles, aunts, cousins and close family friends.
Memorial funeral services will be conducted for Mr. Rukab Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. in the First Presbyterian Church, 697 SW Baya Drive Lake City, Florida 32055, with the Dr. Roy Martin, Father Mike Pendergraft and the Rev. Bertrum Miller, officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 16, 2012 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. just prior to the service at the church. Guerry Funeral Home 2659 SW.
