Gene Allen

Mr. Gene Allen, age 61 of Sanderson, FL passed away peacefully with his wife and daughter at his side on Saturday, August 12, in the St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Jacksonville, FL. Gene was born on January 10, 1956 at Duval Medical Center, Jacksonville, FL. He attended school in North Carolina and proudly served our country in the United States Army. While serving our country he met the love of his life, Avois. They were married March 13, 1979. They were happily married and celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary this year. Gene worked as a mechanic and dedicated over 30 years to Honeywell at Blount Island, now known as KBR Wyle. He forged many lifelong friendships while he was employed there. Gene was a family gentleman first and foremost. He enjoyed FSU football, NASCAR racing and fishing. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Golden, his only son, Chuck Allen and grandson, Drew Alligood. He is survived by his beloved wife, Avois Allen: one daughter, Angela Allen: grandchildren, Amber Allen, Dalton Alligood (Joanna) and Skylar Hinson: two sisters, Wilma Strong (Ed) and Margaret Crews. Three great grandchildren and four nephews also survive. A celebration of Gene’s life and remembrances of his wit and humor will be held at 3 P.M., Thursday, August 17 at Celebration Church, Macclenny, FL with Pastor Elmer Crews officiating.
