George Rewis

Mr. George “Cotton” Rewis, age 83 of St. George, GA passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, January 18 following an extended illness. Mr. Rewis was born in Welaka, FL to the late Leon and Thelma Conger Rewis and resided in Jacksonville, FL before moving to St. George, GA over 20 years ago. Mr. Rewis worked as a maintenance supervisor for Jefferson- Smurvift Paper Company and retired from there after 37 years of employment. He was a member of the International Paper Union, served in the United States Navy and was a season ticket holder for the Florida Gators for over 50 years. Mr. Rewis is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Gencie Rewis of St. George, GA: one daughter, Sheryl (Joe) McDaniel of Jacksonville Beach, FL: one sister, Juanita Rentz of Jacksonville, Florida: two grandchildren, Jenniffer and Shannon Sinclair: two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Rewis will be held at 2 P.M., Sunday, January 21 in the Pine Level Church, Baxter, FL with Rev. Fred Raulerson, Pastor, officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 6 to 8 P.M., Saturday, January 20 in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home, U.S. 90 E., Macclenny, FL.
