Glenda E. Wallace “Mom” of Cuyler went to sleep to wait for Jesus’ return in Kindred Rehab/Hospital on November 8, 2015 at the age of 79. She was born February 20, 1936 in Elba, Alabama to William and Vennie Johnson
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward E. Wallace, sisters Grace Martin, Ruby Truitt, Martha Pitts and Agnes Milton.
Glenda is survived by her children Brenda Fields of Pigeon Forge, TN., Wynell (Paul) Kassab of Lake City, Dennis Fields of Cuyler and Rebecca (David) Leonard of Macclenny; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Glenda lost her dad at age three and her mother at age five. Her sisters shared thr responsibility of taking care of her. She went from one sister’s home to another. Glenda learned at a young age to do her share of the work and she did just that. Glenda said before she could even reach the countertop she had to make biscuits for the family. She had to start working before she could finish school. Her education was in life itself. She loved fishing, cooking, sewing, reading, gardening, canning, watching football and spending time with family and friends. She hated to be alone. She always strived to help people as much as she could. Glenda was considered “Mom” to many. She never met a stranger.
Visitation and the service will be held November 12 in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home. Visitation is from 12 – 2 with the service beginning immediately following. Brother Albert Starling officiating. Interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery.
