Hazel Smith

Hazel Newmans Smith, age 90, of Macclenny, Fl. died Wednesday, August 12, in Lake Butler, Fl. Ms. Smith was born in Jacksonville Beach, Fl. to the late James and Matti Newmans. She was raised in Baker County, Fl. and lived in Baldwin, Fl. before returning to Macclenny, Fl. eight years ago. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Baldwin Assembly of God, Baldwin, Fl. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgle Smith and daughter, Barbara Wilkes. Ms. Smith is survived by two sons, Mickey Smith (Vickie) of Baldwin, Fl. and Freddy Smith (Connie) of Bryceville, Fl. : one daughter, Joan Kitchens (Larry) of Lake Butler, Fl.: three sisters, Berniece Burchfield of Jacksonville, Fl., Bonnie Broxton (Ken) of Jacksonville, Fl., and Alene Sweat of Macclenny, Fl.: three brothers, Darrow Newmans (Lavonia) of Sanderson, Fl., Jaycee Newmans (Mary) of Folkston, Ga., and J.E. Newmans of Baldwin, Fl. Eleven grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, and thirteen great-great grandchildren also survive. A remembrance service to honor the life of Ms. Smith will be held at 11 A.M., Friday, August 14, in the Baldwin Assembly of God, with Rev. Robert Hutson, Pastor, officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 10 to 11 A.M. (One hour before services). Interment will be in Manntown Cemetery, Glen St. Mary, Fl.
