Helen Byrd

Mrs. Helen Marie Byrd, age 85, of Glen St. Mary, FL passed away Saturday, January 29 in the Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Byrd was born in Miami- Dade County to the late Eulie and Edith Taylor Richardson. She was a lifelong resident of Baker County and a member of the Manntown Congregational Holiness Church. Mrs. Byrd worked at Westside Elementary School in the lunchroom for over 20 years. She was known as a patient Christian woman and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Byrd is preceded in death by her parents and son, Muriel Byrd. She is survived by her loving husband, Schell Byrd: one son, Marcus Byrd (Cari) of Whitehouse, FL: one brother, Marvin “Bud” Richardson (Vicki) of Cincinnati, OH: Judy Crews (Buddy) of Moniac, GA: three grandchildren, Brandi Oca of Glen St. Mary, FL, Samantha Byrd of Whitehouse, FL and Travis Byrd of Orlando, FL. Six great grandchildren, Landen and Gabriel Oca both of Glen St. Mary, FL, Kolton Wilkes of Macclenny, FL, Ava Donaldson of Glen St. Mary, FL, William and Quinn McFather both of Starke, FL, also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Byrd will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, February 2 in the Manntown Congregational Holiness Church with Pastor David Hodges and Rev. Randy Ogburn officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 6 to 8 P.M., Tuesday, February 1 in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home.
