Mrs. Helen Catherine Staten, age 89, of Lake City, Fla. died Wednesday, July 31, in the Suwannee Valley Care Center, Lake City, Fla. following a long illness. She was born in Valdosta, Ga. and had resided in Lake City since 1950. She was employed with Belk-Hudson and Eagle-Devane clothing stores and then retired from General Electric, Alachua, Fla. in 1985 after 20 years of service. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lola Carter Colson and her late husband, James Wilmer Staten and her daughter, Lawanda Beard. She is survived by her daughter, Sandy (Randy) Holloway of Piedmont, Ala.: Three sons, Larry (Judy) Staten, Wendell (Judy) Staten and Roy (Judy ) Staten all of Lake City, Fla.:Thirteen grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Friday, Aug. 2, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Rodriquez, Pastor of Southside Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery, Lake City, Fla. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 A.M. Friday (One hour before services) at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W. Main Blvd., Lake City, Fla.
