Henry Harell Horton, Sr.

Mr. Henry Harell Horton, Sr., age 81, of Lake City, Florida passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday morning, January 5, 2022 after a prolonged illness. He was born in Lulu, Florida April 3, 1940 to the late Rev. James Kitchen Horton and Rev. Ola Mae Boston Horton. He retired from the U.S Army after 20 years of service, with multiple tours of Vietnam, Korea and Germany. He earned  several medals and citations during his time in service. Later in life he owned a small local trucking company, Horton Trucking in Lake City. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, George L. Horton; his sister, LaRue Goellener; daughter-in-law, Stacy M. Horton; and grandson, Christian J. Shepard. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lois Horton of Lake City, Florida; four sons, Gregory H. Horton ( wife Tammy) and Henry H. Horton, Jr. of Lake City, Fla., Randall T. Spivey (Teresa) of Georgia and George R. Spivey of North Dakota; his daughter, Regina D. Jones of Lake City, Florida; three sisters, Charlotte Young (Bert) of Lake City, and Jimmie Nina Smith (Linden) and Susie Mae Schwingle both of Illinois; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren also survive. A funeral service with military honors  for Mr. Horton will be held at 12 P.M. Tuesday, Jan. 11, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Norris officiating. Interment will be in Siloam Cemetery, Columbia County, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 11 to 12 P.M. (One hour before services) at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S. W. Main Blvd., Lake City, Florida.
