Herman Dexter Couch, Jr.

August 3, 1936 — March 10, 2016

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the death of Herman Dexter  Couch, Jr. (Dick) , who passed away on March 10, 2016 in Haven Hospice.  Dick was born in Quantico, Virginia on August 3, 1936. He grew up in Foley Beach and Charleston, South Carolina. He attended Clemson University and served 8 years in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He resided in North Florida for most of his adult years, and spent a lot of his free time planning a way to head to the water and fish for hours on end. He was always active in his pursuit of turkey and duck hunting, trout fishing and growing plentiful crops of produce.  He was always quick with a smile and full of helpful information about wildlife.  He retired as a Game Manager for the Florida Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission. He always had wonderful stories to share about his escapades with co-workers during their daily game and wildlife preserve activities. Dick’s passing was preceded by his father, Herman Dexter Couch, Sr. and his mother, Gladys Evelyn Brooks Couch. He is survived by his wife, Cindy, his brother, Steve, his two sons, Rick and Scott, his daughters, Pam and Susan and 9 grandchildren.  A memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Couch will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, Mar. 19, in the Epiphany Catholic Church with Father Robert Trujillo officiating. A gathering for family and friends will be from 5 to 7 P.M. Friday, Mar. 18, with a rosary recited at 5 P.M. at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W. Main Blvd., U.S. 41 South, Lake City, Florida. www.guerryfuneralhome.net.
