James William "Bill" Waters, Jr.

Mr. James William “Bill” Waters, Jr., 67 of Lake City, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2013 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City following an extended illness.  He was born in Lake Butler, FL and had lived most of his life in Lake City.  Mr. Waters was a graduate of the 1964 class at Columbia High School and a veteran of the United States Navy.  In January of 2013 he retired from PCS in White Springs with 34 years of employment.  Mr. Waters was a member of the Lake City Moose Lodge #624, the American Legion and was of the Baptist Faith.  His hobbies included fishing and shooting pool.  He was preceded in death by his father, James William Waters, Sr, in 2006.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Waters, Lake City; his mother, Martha Waters, Lake City; three sons, Steven W. Waters (Louise), Ocala, James William “Bucky” Waters, III (Carla) and Joshua Dereck Cover all of Lake City; two daughters, Melinda Marie Waters, Lake City and Erica Louise Orzechowski (John), Nashville, TN; three step daughters, Danielle Lolley, Amanda Lolley and Tyler Lolley all of Lake City; one brother, Johnnie Ray Waters (Linda Sue), Lake City; three sisters, Doris Lee Rogozinski, Abilene, TX, Betty Jo Henderson (Kenneth) and Rosemary Hepburn all of Lake City; 21 grandchildren and numerous extended family also survives.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Nave officiating.  Interment will follow in the Garden of Rest Family Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening from 6-8:00 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center at 6037 W US Hwy 90, Lake City, FL 32055.
