James Gregory Cheshire, a lifelong resident of White Springs, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at the age of 58. He was born in Lake City to the late Leon Horace Cheshire and Ollie Jane Dunaway Cheshire and was a graduate of Hamilton County High School. Mr. Cheshire was a diesel mechanic and was employed by Nextran Truck Centers of Lake City for twenty-four years. In his free time, he enjoyed rebuilding transmissions and motors from his home and dirt track racing, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed attending Long Branch Congregational Methodist Church of White Springs, where he was a member. He is survived by his wife: Angela S. Cheshire of White Springs; his children: Brittany (C.J.) Teggart of Fort White, Shelly Koontz of Fort White, Joey Rourkes of Lake City, Amber Howard, Kristi Howard and Chase Howard, all of White Springs; brother: Christopher Cheshire of White Springs; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held 11:00am, Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Long Branch Congregational Methodist Church of White Springs with Reverend Randy Ogburn officiating. Interment will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery, White Springs. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm, Friday, January 2, 2026, in the chapel of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home of Lake City, 2659 SW Main Blvd., Lake City.
