Mr. James Lee "Jamie" Smith, age 48, of Macclenny, Florida died Thursday, April 12, in the St. Vincents Medical Center, Jacksonville, Fla. following a brief illness. He was born in Lakeland, Fla. and lived in Auburndale, Fla. before moving to Macclenny in 1970. He worked as a salesman with Badcock Home Furnishing Center, Macclenny, Fla. for many years until 2001. He then worked with Hagan Ace Hardware, Macclenny, Fla. and was a rental property managaer until his death. He was a member of the Macclenny Church of Christ, was a devoted stay at home father and enjoyed guitar and other music.
He was preceded in death by his father James C. "Smitty" Smith and mother-in-law Dotsy McPherson. He is survived by his wife Anita McPherson Smith of Macclenny, Fla.: His son James McPherson "James Mac" Smith of Macclenny, Fla.: His mother Jo Anne (Michael) Minerva of Macclenny, Fla.: His father-in-law L.H. "Scott" McPherson of Macclenny, Fla.
Funeral services will be conducted at 5 P.M. Tuesday, April 17, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with a eulogy to be said by family and friends. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Macclenny, Fla. Visitation will be held from 4 to 5 P.M. Tuesday (one hour before services)at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, Macclenny, Fla.
