James Lee Vance, Sr.

Mr. James Lee Vance, Sr., age 76, of Jacksonville, FL passed away Wednesday, March 8 in the Candler Hospital, Savannah, GA following an extended illness. Mr. Vance lived most of his life in Duval County and retired as a school teacher from Robert E. Lee High School, Jacksonville, FL after 30 years of employment. He attended First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, FL and enjoyed painting and golfing. Mr. Vance is preceded in death by his parents, Guy Vance and Annie Neil, his late wife, Cheryl Eileen Vance and his sister, Judith Hunt. He is survived by two sons, James Lee Vance, Jr. “Chip” ( Beth) of Clyo, GA and Wayne Maples (Cathy) of Tampa, FL: one daughter, Jessica Prichard (David) of Jacksonville, FL: two step-daughters, Jennifer Courson (Chris) of Macclenny, FL and Leslie Dykes (Robert) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL: one brother, William Vance. Thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Vance will be held at 2 P.M., Tuesday, March 14, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home, Macclenny, FL. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 1 to 2 P.M. (one hour before services). Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
