Jane Elizabeth Ward

Mrs. Jane E. “Betty” Ward, 89 of Macclenny and formerly of Jacksonville, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 11, 2014 at the Macclenny Nursing and Rehabilitation in Macclenny. Mrs. Ward was born in Macclenny to the late Richard Gideon Cox and Conetta “Netta” Joyner Cox and was a longtime resident of Jacksonville. Mrs. Ward had previously worked for the Duval County School Board for many years. When able, she attended the Park City Baptist Church in Jacksonville and enjoyed sewing, bowling and dancing when she was younger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sutton Ward, Sr. and one daughter, Patricia Annette Ward, both in 2000 and one sister, Helen Cox in 2013. Survivors include one son, Robert Sutton Ward, Jr, Jacksonville; one daughter, Sherry Klein, Kennebunk, MA; three brothers, R.G. Cox, Cordele, GA, Gene Cox, Cross City, FL and Bobby Cox, Titusville, FL; two sisters, Margaret Holt, Macclenny and Phyllis Tatham, Jacksonville; nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren also survive. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 3:00 PM at the Manntown Cemetery in Glen St. Mary, FL. Interment will follow.
