Rev. J.C. "Jay" Lauramore

April 23, 1943 — December 21, 2022

Rev. J.C. “Jay” Lauramore, age 79, of Macclenny, Florida passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 21, in the arms of his wife, Sandy, at St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospice, Jacksonville, Florida following a brief illness.  There was no other place he’d rather be. They were married for over 38 years. Sandy said The Lord could never have made a more caring and loving husband. Jay worked for the Florida Division of Forestry in Glen St. Mary, Florida and as a parts room supervisor with the Northeast Florida State Hospital, Macclenny, Florida for 40 years of service until his retirement in 2003. He also was an ordained minister for over 53 years and served as pastor of the New Hope Church in Baker county for 38 years. Jay was “Borned to Pastor” and loved to read and preach the Word. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Stacy Padgett, his parents, Roy and Thelma Johns Lauramore, his father and mother-in-law, Rev. Melvin and Laura Combs Raulerson, other deceased family members, Arthur Lauramore, Tom Davis, Albert Cox, Sr., Charles Pryde, Dick Davis, Ruby Davis and Kathrine Pryde. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Raulerson Lauramore of Macclenny, Florida; four children, Lorrie Ann (Vince) Culverson, Roy (Christine) Lauramore, Hope Goldsmith and Stephanie Foster; two sisters, Eloise Davis and Kerrell Cox; Sister-in-law, Mary Lauramore;  grandchildren, Jordan (Marcus) Washington, Ashley (Mike) Thurman, Jonathan (Katie) Culverson, Ty Sikes, Lani (Tyler) Mobley, Travis (Korie) Neal, Caity (Thren) White, Gavan Foster, Caily Hauge, Dylen Goldsmith,Cale Neal, Case Foster, Cody Hott and Austin Morris; great-grandchildren, Adlyn Thurman, Madison Washington, Tanner Culverson, Nolan Culverson, Rylan Washington, Emerson Thurman, Johanna Culverson, Mason Washington, Madalynn White, Eli Washington, Grant Thurman, Tuff Neal and Beau Mobley. A funeral service to honor the life of Rev. Lauramore will be held at 2 P.M. Monday, Dec. 26, in the New Hope Church with Rev. Bobby Griffin, Pastor of The Lord’s Church officiating and assisted by Brother Daniel Blair and Dr. Michael Stone. Interment will be in Manntown Cemetery, Glen St. Mary, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 1 to 2 P.M. Monday (one hour before services) at the church. GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, U.S. 90 East Macclenny, Florida is in charge of arrangements.
