Mrs. Jewell Priester Morris, age 93, of Macclenny, Florida died Thursday, Dec. 31, in the St. Vincent’s Riverside Center, Jacksonville, Florida following an extended illness. She was born in Lake Butler, Florida and had resided in Macclenny, Florida since 1941. She worked as a medical receptionist with Dr. Watson and Dr. Jiminez in Macclenny, Florida for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Macclenny, Florida and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Macclenny Women’s Club. She founded Jewelettes, a group of senior women who entertained at nursing homes and local activities. She played piano at church, at local events and in nursing homes. She was preceded in death by her parents, James “Jim” William and Mary Jane “Molly” Hampton Priester and her late husband, P.L. “Pete” Morris. She is survived by her two sons, William P. (Carol) of Macclenny, Florida and James F. (Teresa) Morris of Tallahassee, Florida: Two grandchildren, Carie Conley and James F. (Beth) Morris, Jr.: One great-grandson, James F. Morris, III. A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Morris will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, Jan. 2, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Don Thompson, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Macclenny, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 10 to 11 A.M.
