John "Ralph" Howell

Mr. John "Ralph" Howell, age 83, of Glen St. Mary, Florida passed away on Monday, Dec. 25, at his residence following a sudden illness. Ralph was born in Thomasville, Georgia and resided in Jacksonville, Florida for 35 years before moving to Glen St. Mary, Florida in 1998. He worked as a carpenter and construction contractor with Auckter Construction and Lenar Homes in Jacksonville, Florida for many years until his retirement. He attended the Glen Baptist Church in Glen St. Mary, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse N. and Sally J. Gregory Howell. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca "Sharron" Howell of Glen St. Mary, Florida; one daughter, Wanda (Hugh) Switzer of Jacksonville, Florida; one son, John R. (Robin) Howell, II of Macclenny, Florida; one sister, Mary Ann Turner of Dothan, Alabama; two brothers, Don Howell of Camilla, Georgia and Randy Howell of Maryland; beloved niece, Trisha Smith of Jacksonville,FL; five grandchildren, Rebecca (Tim) Smith, Ryan (Charlotte) Switzer, Ryan (Ashley) Harper, Magan (Kenan) Mona, and Emily (Matt) Roda; Eleven great-grandchildren also survive. A graveside funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Ralph Howell will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, Dec. 29, in the Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32205. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the American Lung Association or any charity of your choice.
