Mr. John Leonard Moore, age 87, died Tuesday, October 28, 2014 in the VA Medical Center, Lake City, Florida. He was born in New Lenox, Illinois on August 8, 1927 to Augusta Meyer and Willis Moore. He resided in High Springs, Fla. before moving to Lake City, Fla. 14 years ago. He was proud to have served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was employed as a machinist for General Electric for 10 years before his retirement. Mr Moore was an active member of the Cannon Creek Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served duties such as first counselor in the bishopric and high priest leader. He enjoyed woodworking and helping anyone who was in need. It was obvious to the ones who knew Mr. Moore that the ultimate joy was of his life was spoiling family. Mr. Moore preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Moore and his son Daryl Moore. Also preceded by his two sisters, Shirley Clemons and Margie Dubois. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Irene Murray Moore of Lake City, Fla.; one son Tom Patterson (Bobbie) of Lake City, Fla.; two daughters, Marina Steele (Mike) of High Springs, Fla. and Kendra Patterson of St. Petersburg, Fla. Three grandchildren, Michael Steel, Jr. of Fort White, Fla.; Brittany Barbatelli of Jacksonville, Fla. and Jesica Cox of Lake City, Fla and three great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M., Friday, Oct. 31, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Cannon Creek Ward, 1293 SW Bascom Norris Drive, Lake City, Fla. Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery, Lake City, Fla. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M., Thursday, Oct. 30, at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 SW Main Blvd., Lake City, Fla. www.guerryfuneralhome.net
