Mr. John William Walker, 62 of Macclenny, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Acosta-Rua Center for Caring in Jacksonville following an extended illness. He was born on July 4, 1951 in Live Oak, Florida to his parents, Auvil “Bo” Walker and Betty Byrd, and has resided in Baker County since childhood. He was a member of the NRA, the Road to Calvary Church in Glen St. Mary and enjoyed fishing and hunting when his health allowed him. John enjoyed restoring cars, the Florida State Seminoles and he loved El Caminos. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Mike, Dan and Lawrence Walker; his step father, Early Byrd; step mother, Gladys Walker; and his special dog, Remmy.
Survivors include his daughter and son, Sarah (James) Craft and Clayton (Shalan) Walker all of Glen St. Mary; his mother and father, Betty Byrd and Bo (Mary) Walker all of Macclenny; his sister, Debbie (Jeff) Bryson, Perry, FL; his brother, Larry (Jean) Walker, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Hamp, Memphis, Braxton and Lilly; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, Beth and Ted Willoughby also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Anderson, pastor of Road to Calvary Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Canaday Cemetery, St. George, GA. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8:00 PM, Friday evening at the funeral home.
