Mr. Joseph James Brown, Sr., age 79, of Fort Valley, Georgia passed away on Saturday, May 11, at his home. Mr. Brown was born in White Springs, Florida and resided there most of his life until moving to Fort Valley, Georgia six years ago. He worked as a diesel mechanic for many years, most recently with Occidental Chemical Company and also owned a gun smith shop for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Epstien H. and Fannie B. Mason Brown. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Janette Brown of Perry, Georgia; three daughters, Sharon Janette Brown of Wellborn, Florida, Olivia Bell Hobby of White Springs, Florida and Jeanette Leeanna Brown of Perry, Florida; four sons, Joseph J. “Bud” Brown, Jr. of Fort Valley, Georgia, John Hillary “Peanut” Brown of Anchorage, Alaska, George Brown of Olustee, Florida and Jodie T. Brown of Homer, Alaska; three siblings, Shirley Brown and Sandy Gill both of Jacksonville, Florida and Doodle Carmichael of Live Oak, Florida; over 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Brown will be held at 3 P.M. Thursday, May 16, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Veronica Thomas, Pastor of the White Springs Congregation Holliness Church, officiating. Interment will be Prospect Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, White Springs, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 4 to 6P.M. Wednesday, May 15, at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W. Main Blvd., Lake City, Florida.
