Mrs. Juanita Andreu Thornton, age 92, of Salt Springs, Florida died Wednesday, July 22, in the Isle Healthcare & Rehab Center, Fleming Island, Florida following a long illness. Mrs. Thornton was born in Lake Butler, Florida and had resided in the Baxter community of Baker County and Macclenny, Florida before moving to Salt Springs, Fla. 16 years ago. She worked for the Credit Bureau of Jacksonville, the Northeast Florida State Hospital, Macclenny, Florida and drove a school bus for the Baker County School Board for many years. She was a member of the New Beginnings Church of God, Salt Springs, Florida and enjoyed traveling, fishing and cooking. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Cecil Thornton, her daughter, Joyce Diane Batten and her son, Keith Thornton. She is survived by her sister, Geneva A. Ray of Jacksonville, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews. A remembrance service to honor the life of Mrs. Thornton will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, July 25, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. James Conner, Pastor of the New Beginning Baptist Church, St. George, Georgia, officiating. Interment will be in Emmus Cemetery, St. George, Georgia. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 1 to 2 P.M.
