Ms. Julia Mae Thrift Horn, age 88, of Macclenny, FL passed away Wednesday, May 17th at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital, Macclenny, FL following an extended illness. Ms. Julia was born in Jacksonville, FL and was a lifelong resident of Baker County. She worked as a cafeteria manager for the Baker County School Board for many years and was a member of Macclenny Primitive Baptist Church. Ms. Julia enjoyed cooking, dancing, and spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Susie Prevatt Dyal, late husbands, Joseph “Sonny” Thrift and Samuel “Sam” Horn and brother, James “Buddy” Dyal. Ms. Julia is survived by her daughters, Sue Giles (Nick), Karen Lauramore (Merrill) and Debbie Finley (Dennis) all of Macclenny, FL: two brothers, Thomas Dyal (Betty Fay) of Taylor, FL and Paul Dyal (Susan) of Perry, FL: grandchildren, Amanda McCook, Brandon Finley, Jennifer Franks, and Josh Lauramore. Twelve great-grandchildren also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Ms. Horn will be held at 3 P.M., Saturday, May 20th at Macclenny Primitive Baptist Church with Elder David Crawford officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 2 to 3 P.M. (one hour before services) at the church. Interment will follow the funeral service in Oak Grove Cemetery.
